Program Philosophy
The art of classical ballet is something we want to keep alive in our culture. It is beauty expressed through movement, and builds confidence and a sense of mastery and artistry in the student. We aim to instill an appreciation of traditional, classical ballet technique within our dancers. This is accomplished through weekly technique classes that are taught in a natural progression from the Primary level (ages 6-8), to the Secondary level (ages 7-10), and through to the Intermediate level (ages 12-18). Once students complete two years at the Secondary level, they begin their training twice weekly.
Our focus is on classwork and technique mastery, while also incorporating combinations and dances that move across the floor and require the student to apply their training to “dancing”, which is so much more than simply executing steps. It requires integration of the brain and body to enable the dancer to move gracefully through space and to bring the dance to life.
A Ballet Class offers three class levels at this time. Each class is 32 weeks long and ranges in time from 1 - 2.5 hours.
